About The Company

Square One Resources is recruiting for a specialist technology contract opportunity supporting a high-profile UK public sector digital transformation programme. The role is based within an established technical delivery team working on modern digital applications in an enterprise-scale environment. The successful contractor will contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of services intended to meet the needs of public sector users and stakeholders.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative delivery setting where software engineering, user-focused design and dependable technical practices are important. You will work alongside developers, testers, product teams and other stakeholders, contributing your expertise throughout the development lifecycle.

About The Role

Square One Resources is seeking an experienced React Developer with active UK Security Check (SC) clearance. You will design, build and improve responsive front-end applications using React, JavaScript and TypeScript. The role also involves integrating applications with REST APIs, writing maintainable code and contributing to automated testing.

The initial contract runs until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension. This is a UK remote opportunity, subject to the programme’s delivery arrangements and any applicable requirements. The advertised day rate is £400–£500, and the contract is inside IR35.

You will be expected to work effectively within an Agile delivery team, communicate technical ideas clearly and follow established development standards. The position will suit someone who can take ownership of front-end work while collaborating constructively with colleagues and adapting to the needs of a large-scale public sector programme.

Qualifications

Applicants should have strong commercial experience building applications with React and a confident working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript. You should be comfortable integrating front-end applications with REST APIs and understand the principles of responsive, accessible and maintainable front-end development.

Experience with automated testing and enterprise-scale development environments is required, as is a practical understanding of Agile delivery. Strong communication, problem-solving and collaboration skills are important for working with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Active UK SC Clearance is essential. Candidates must hold current, active clearance to be considered; applicants without it cannot be progressed for this opportunity. Experience in government, public sector or another regulated environment would be advantageous.

Additional experience with Pega, Pega Constellation, the React SDK, GDS or UK Government digital services, CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies or DevOps environments would be beneficial. These are desirable rather than mandatory skills.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and enhance responsive digital applications using React. Build robust solutions with JavaScript and TypeScript, and integrate front-end features with REST APIs. Produce clean, scalable code that is straightforward to maintain, and contribute to automated testing to support quality and reliability.

Collaborate with developers, testers, product teams and other stakeholders to deliver agreed outcomes. Participate in technical discussions, share relevant expertise and contribute to development decisions. Follow programme standards, security expectations and established engineering practices, while supporting continuous improvement across the team’s processes and technical solutions.

Work as part of an Agile, enterprise-scale delivery environment, communicating progress, raising issues appropriately and adapting to changing priorities. Help ensure that technical work supports the programme’s objectives and the needs of its users.

Benefits

This opportunity offers a UK remote working arrangement, a day rate of £400–£500 and an initial contract through to 31 March 2027, with potential for extension. You will contribute to a significant public sector digital transformation programme and work with an established technical delivery team. The contract is inside IR35.

Equal Opportunity

Square One Resources welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates and is committed to fair and respectful recruitment. Selection will be based on relevant skills, experience and the mandatory clearance requirement. Applicants will be considered without discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics or personal background, in accordance with applicable equality and employment legislation.
