Overview

As the Release Train Engineer, you lead and orchestrate PIs, releases, and environment governance for complex programs. You act as a servant leader to enable smooth planning, execution and delivery across cross-functional teams. You will facilitate PI Planning, manage scope and priorities with product and customer stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement. This role focuses on quality, transparency, and fast, safe value delivery within an Agile Release Train. You will shape delivery flow in a large-scale environment to meet strategic goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and facilitate the Agile Release Train (ART) and PI planning events
  • Coordinate with Product Managers to capture and maintain features and enablers in Jira
  • Own PI agenda, create slides, and guide PI sessions
  • Produce PI-level reports and monitor risks and velocity trends
  • Lead Inspect & Adapt, postmortems, and track improvement actions
  • Own and manage release scope and alignment with release plans
  • Manage environment schedule and sequencing to minimise delivery risk
  • Act as Configuration Manager and gatekeeper for builds and PR governance
  • Ensure Jira hygiene and proper release notes (internal and customer facing)
  • Coordinate builds, deployments, and environment readiness across environments
Key requirements
  • Proven experience performing RTE-like responsibilities in large-scale agile environments
  • Strong Jira knowledge (workflow management and reporting)
  • Understanding of Git/Bitbucket workflows and pull request governance
  • Understanding of Git/Bitbucket branching strategies
  • Excellent organisational and multi-team delivery management
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality control
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with engineers, PMs and customers
  • Delivery-focused mindset with emphasis on flow and production delivery
