Overview

In this role you drive front-end R&D that turns early ideas into working proof-of-concept devices for future New Category products. You lead defined technology workstreams, create prototypes and test rigs, and apply first-principles thinking to assess feasibility. You will generate evidence, models and engineering insights to inform early technical decisions. This position emphasizes solving hard technical problems quickly, with opportunities to shape next-generation products and collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Lead front-end R&D technology workstreams, defining scope, approach, plans, risks and outputs
  • Create and develop concepts, proof-of-concept devices, prototypes and experimental setups to explore feasibility
  • Apply physics, modelling and practical engineering judgement to solve problems
  • Support IP-aware development, reviewing prior art and protecting confidential information
  • Plan, run and interpret experiments, analyse data and iterate designs
  • Collaborate with internal experts, suppliers and partners to access capabilities
  • Communicate findings through reviews, reports and data management tools
  • Capture learning to enable transfer of technologies into future product projects
Key requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands-on engineering experience in electro-mechanical technology development or related fields
  • Experience creating new technologies or proof-of-concept devices
  • Strong ability to design, build, modify and troubleshoot prototypes and test rigs
  • Experience planning and executing experiments and making engineering recommendations
  • Experience applying physics, modelling or simulation to guide decisions
  • Ability to own technical work packages or small projects and work independently
  • Creative, practical and structured problem solving
  • Clear communication of technical work
  • Collaborative cross-disciplinary interaction
  • CAD and rapid prototyping capability
  • Data analysis, modelling, simulations
  • First-principles thinking and physics-based reasoning
