Overview

In this role you will support and enhance high-performance computing resources for research. You will help design, develop, maintain and optimise HPC infrastructure, including clusters, GPUs, networking and data storage, to enable researchers to run computational analyses and AI workloads. You will collaborate with researchers and technical teams to deliver scalable HPC solutions that align with LSE’s research mission. This is an opportunity to shape cutting-edge research computing at a cosmopolitan university in central London.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain and optimise research-focused HPC hardware infrastructure (clusters, GPU acceleration, networking, storage)
  • Manage and support HPC environments to ensure robust, scalable solutions
  • Collaborate with researchers, technical teams and external stakeholders to deliver effective HPC services
  • Enable researchers to access cutting-edge computational resources for research and AI applications
Key requirements
  • Strong technical expertise in HPC and GPU systems
  • Experience administering, configuring and optimising HPC clusters and GPU systems (e.g. Slurm, OpenPBS, K8)
  • Hands-on experience with open-source HPC build/installation frameworks (Spack, Easybuild)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash, Ansible) and knowledge of DevOps practices
