Robot Controls Software Designer

Design robot control software in Cambridge, Ontario, using PLC architecture, sequencing, diagnostics, and recovery logic for industrial automation systems.

As a Controls Systems Software Designer, you will create production-ready automation for demanding environments. The work includes robot programming, system integration, troubleshooting, and software architecture. You will support projects spanning nuclear, automotive, consumer products, and specialized industrial equipment while coordinating with design, assembly, management, and customer teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop robot control programs with motion and sequencing strategies
• Integrate motion, vision, safety, laser, and feeder systems
• Validate software during in-house and customer-site integration
• Track scope, schedules, budgets, risks, and project commitments
• Deliver maintainable software across multiple concurrent projects

Requirements:

• Four-plus years in industrial automation and robot software design
• Experience programming ABB, FANUC, or KUKA industrial robots
• Strong PLC architecture, troubleshooting, and root-cause problem-solving skills
• Independent delivery across concurrent projects with minimal oversight
• Clear technical and customer-facing communication skills
