Your role

As a Robotics Software Development Team Lead, you will direct the team responsible for high-level robotics applications, software architecture, and user interfaces (UI/HMI). You will play a key role in combining team leadership and technical expertise. In this role, you will work in close collaboration with the embedded software team as well as the product team to ensure the success of our systems.

Your main responsibilities

Team leadership and management

  • Team leadership and management: Supervise, mentor, and lead the robotics software development team on a daily basis.
  • Actively participate in project definition as well as technical and functional requirements development.
  • Plan sprints, organize task allocation, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare technical training documentation for onboarding new developers.
  • Stay on top of the latest technologies and industry trends to keep the team at the cutting edge.

Robotics software development

  • Design the software architecture for systems in a Linux environment.
  • Design new features and tools for current and future generations of robots.
  • Program new features and components (in C/C++ and Python). Integrate developed features and/or components into a fully functional system.
  • Participate in development while ensuring strict compliance with robotics industry standards (ISO, UL, CE, etc.).
  • Ensure the implementation and adherence to unit and integration test plans to guarantee excellent code quality.
  • Adopt structured coding styles to facilitate code review, testing, and maintainability.
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and updating current live systems.
  • Incorporate user feedback to make the system more stable and easier to use.
  • Comply with coding standards and technical designs.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work hand-in-hand with the embedded software team and product team to align software development with the product vision.
  • Work in close collaboration with technical support and the production department.

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated prior experience in a technical lead or team lead role.
  • 2+ years of experience as a software engineer, software developer, or in a relevant role.
  • Proficiency in C / C ++, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Proficiency in a Linux environment.
  • Knowledge of Yocto (an asset).

Your technical skills and qualities

  • Knowledge of robotics and algorithms.
  • Strong understanding of robotics and knowing how to apply it concretely to development challenges.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience with popular Web frameworks (used for the robot user interface).
  • Mandatory knowledge of Git (Warning, without this prerequisite your application will undergo a git reset --hard and be politely declined!) and familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira and Bitbucket).
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) from analysis to deployment.

Job conditions

Full-time position (40h/week) to be filled as soon as possible at our location at 1300 St-Patrick Street, Montreal, QC (relocation to our new modern premises in Brossard during 2027) Compensation according to profile and experience Requires authorization to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
