Ruby Developer

In this role you will join a professional software engineering team to build and ship backend systems. You will develop and maintain backend applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails, design RESTful APIs, and integrate with databases, caching, and external services. You will troubleshoot performance, support production issues, and collaborate across frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams. You will contribute to system design and code reviews, helping deliver secure, scalable solutions for diverse clients. • Develop and maintain backend applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services
• Work with databases, background jobs, caching, and third-party integrations
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code
• Troubleshoot performance and production issues
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams
• Participate in system design and code reviews

• Strong commercial experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• Experience with other backend technologies (Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET)
• Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and database optimisation
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar backend technologies
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong testing experience with RSpec, Minitest, or equivalent
• Good understanding of Git, software architecture, security, and performance optimisation
