Overview

In this role you will lead and oversee the SAP technical and security environment for Penguin Random House, ensuring stability, security, and governance across the SAP landscape. You will guide the SAP Basis and Security workstreams and mentor the team, collaborating with offshore resources and cross-functional partners. This is a chance to shape the SAP platform (ECC, BTP, Solution Manager) and drive improvements in performance, change control, and audit readiness. You will act as a technical leader, delivering reliable services and strategic initiatives that support the business.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support SAP Basis and Security workstreams, including offshore team oversight
  • Maintain and optimise SAP environment across ECC, BTP and Solution Manager for performance and availability
  • Manage SAP transports, client administration and changes per change-management controls
  • Monitor SAP system health and proactively resolve issues (work processes, logs, dumps, locks, traces, interfaces, capacity)
  • Collaborate with database and infrastructure teams on upgrades, maintenance, performance, storage, backup and recovery
  • Plan and support SAP upgrades, kernel updates and maintenance including out-of-hours go-lives
  • Maintain technical documentation and evidence for audit/compliance
  • Lead resolution of complex technical issues with clear options/recommendations
  • Mentor Basis and Security team and provide status updates to management and service-management practices
Key requirements
  • Significant experience in SAP Basis support and project delivery (installations, upgrades, migrations)
  • People management experience with leading/developing a technical team
  • Strong SAP Security and Authorisations experience
  • Experience with SAP BTP and GRC
  • Experience with Windows Server environments (including clustering)
  • Experience with SQL Server-based systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting
