Overview

In this role, you will own and advance the OpenShift-based container platform within a secure defence environment. You’ll assess and harden existing environments, automate deployment and build pipelines, and sustain platform resilience and incident response. You collaborate with client and supplier teams to guide evolution and ensure secure, scalable operations across on-prem, hosted, and hybrid infrastructure. This opportunity lets you shape critical platform modernization while working in a regulated setting with exposure to cutting-edge tech.

Responsibilities
  • Assess existing OpenShift environments, container images, deployment processes, and dependencies
  • Diagnose and resolve platform, container, build, and runtime issues
  • Improve deployment automation and build processes
  • Remediate security vulnerabilities and technical debt
  • Support monitoring, logging, and operational support capabilities
  • Improve platform resilience, recoverability, and operational readiness
  • Support Java and Tomcat-based runtimes from a platform perspective
  • Investigate incidents and provide specialist engineering support
  • Produce operational documentation, runbooks, and technical guidance
  • Transfer knowledge to client teams and contribute to roadmaps
Key requirements
  • Strong hands-on experience administering and supporting Red Hat OpenShift
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts and operations
  • Experience with Docker, container images, and container registries
  • Experience supporting production application platforms and resolving complex issues
  • Experience with build pipelines, deployment tooling, and release processes
  • Strong Linux administration experience, preferably RHEL-based
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and operational support tooling
  • Experience identifying and remediating platform and container vulnerabilities
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Experience producing operational and technical documentation
  • Ability to work effectively within secure and regulated environments
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to operate across operational support and engineering improvement
