Overview

In this role you lead a high-performing CloudOps security incident management team, owning recruitment, development, and retention of top security talent. You drive incident response excellence, establish SLAs and metrics, and partner with AWS service teams to prioritize and remediate risks. You shape strategic security initiatives, foster ownership and psychological safety, and guide security architecture across services. This role offers impact at scale in a security-centric, fast-moving cloud environment.

Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a high-performing security engineering team with focus on talent development and retention
  • Drive operational excellence in incident management by establishing SLAs, metrics, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with service teams and stakeholders across AWS to prioritize and remediate security issues by risk and impact
  • Develop and implement strategic improvements to security response capabilities, including automation and scaling
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and psychological safety while upholding high security standards
  • Manage cross-organizational relationships and escalation pathways for complex security challenges
  • Lead development and implementation of security frameworks and controls aligned with business goals
  • Establish mechanisms to measure team performance, operational metrics, and program effectiveness
  • Guide architectural decisions and technical strategy for security solutions across multiple organizations
  • Mentor and develop future security leaders and create growth opportunities for team members
  • Review overnight incidents and metrics, conduct 1:1s, participate in strategic planning, and report to senior leadership
Key requirements
  • 5+ years managing and developing teams
  • 5+ years progressive work within a software security team or related operating environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
  • Knowledge of security of web services, cryptography, network security protocols and operating system security
  • Experience in managing and developing teams
  • Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques
