Security Platform Engineer, Google Cloud Public Sector
In this role you will help deliver, operate, and secure private cloud services for highly secure customers. You will work within the UK SecOps team to integrate security validation and hardening into infrastructure and workflows. You will tackle security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and automate tasks to improve efficiency. The position focuses on cloud-native security, Kubernetes protection, and platform automation in a high-trust environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape secure private cloud deployments for mission-critical use cases.
Responsibilities- Deploy, configure, and manage cloud security platform tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, CWPP)
- Develop and implement security monitoring and logging strategies
- Investigate and analyse security incidents, identify root causes, scope, containment and remediation
- Perform forensic analysis to identify suspicious activity
- Automate security tasks and workflows to improve efficiency
- Collaborate with Incident Response, Platform Engineering and Security Architects to harden infrastructure
- Operate private cloud deployments for critical customers and ensure security validation throughout
- Participate in on-call rotation to support incidents and critical operations
- Bachelor in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5 years in security engineering, offensive security (Red/Purple Team), or platform engineering
- Experience with IaC and GitOps (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD) and cloud-native security orchestration
- Kubernetes security experience (workload isolation, RBAC, network policies) and container orchestration
- Scripting/development skills (Python, Go) for security tooling and PoCs
- DV UK security clearance (active or ability to obtain)
