In this role you will lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of physical security systems for AWS data centers and support facilities in the Thames Valley. You’ll work across Data Center Security, Operations, and external partners to deliver secure, compliant, and cost-efficient security solutions. You’ll manage programs from design through to vendor management, testing, and operational readiness, shaping security posture at scale. Responsibilities
- Manage physical security design and system installation life cycle for new facilities, expansions, and special projects
- Provide project management including bid packages, specifications, drawings, code compliance, budget, vendor management, change orders, and close-out documentation
- Coordinate fault tickets and maintenance tasks with vendor engineers to ensure proper device maintenance
- Own and track high value security project budgets, manage spend, variance, and cost reduction targets
- Lead system testing, acceptance, and readiness validation for high-security facilities with other AWS teams
- Report performance metrics on vendor service delivery, costs, fault repair rates, and program analysis
- Collaborate across teams to drive global, regional, and local security initiatives and propose program enhancements
Key requirements
- Experience in physical security design and implementation (Access Control, Intrusion Detection, CCTV)
- Experience overseeing security operations and working with security vendors/contractors
- Vendor management and construction project execution (RFPs, bids, change orders, QC)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication with executives and non-technical leaders
- Full UK driving licence
- UK national with ability to obtain/maintain UK Government Security Clearance (required)
- Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Problem solver who handles blockers and escalations
- Stakeholder management and collaboration across teams
- Physical security systems (Access Control, Intrusion Detection, CCTV)
