Security System Consultant

Overview

In this role you will ensure that physical and electronic security systems integrate across large rail projects. You will coordinate multiple contractors, designs and interfaces within a formal engineering environment to deliver an assured security package for stations, depots and railway infrastructure. You’ll lead interface management, risk assessment, and change control, translating technical issues for non‑technical stakeholders. This position offers the chance to shape the security integration approach on a major programme like HS2 and work within a structured project framework.

Responsibilities

• Lead formal interface management across security systems and packages
• Review contractor designs and deliverables for engineering assurance
• Manage interfaces, technical queries and change requests between contractors
• Assess risks and escalate issues with impact on project scope or schedule
• Communicate interfaces and changes to project and commercial teams
• Translate technical issues for non‑technical stakeholders (PMs and commercial teams)
• Support implementation and installation phases by ensuring integrated, operable security solutions
• Contribute to interface documentation and control processes

• Strong experience with physical and electronic security systems (Access Control, CCTV, Intruder Detection)
• Senior-level security consultancy or engineering experience
• Proven track record of formal interface management on large projects
• Experience producing or contributing to interface documentation and processes
• Experience with risk identification, assessment and escalation
• Experience with change control and assessing wider impacts of engineering changes
• Ability to review contractor designs and provide engineering assurance
• Understanding of security standards and how security systems interface with other infrastructure
• Experience on major infrastructure or transport projects
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence multidisciplinary teams
