Senior Accountant

Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their growing finance team. Reporting to the CFO, this is a hands-on role responsible for full-cycle accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and project accounting within a fast-paced, project-based environment.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of their work while collaborating with both finance and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Payroll

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
• Process payroll and ensure all related remittances and year-end requirements are completed accurately
• Assist with GST, payroll, and other government filings
• Support year-end activities and work with external accounting partners as required
• Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations

Project Accounting

• Support project accounting and job costing activities
• Track project expenses, budgets, and costs throughout the project lifecycle
• Monitor project performance and identify variances or potential cost concerns
• Work with project and operations teams to ensure expenses are accurately recorded and allocated
• Assist with cash flow management, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for the CFO and leadership team
• Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong full-cycle accounting experience
• Payroll experience required
• Experience with project accounting or job costing is a must
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
• Strong Excel and financial reporting skills
• CPA designation or actively working toward CPA is an asset
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating across teams
