Senior Accountant

We are helping our client in Vancouver with a Sr Accountant search. This is a full-time permanent role with benefits, a hybrid work model and more.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
• Manage payroll accounting activities by reconciling payroll-related accounts, analyzing accruals and variances, resolving discrepancies, and supporting Dayforce system improvements.
• Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) by comparing standard costs to actual costs, investigating variances, and providing insight into key business drivers.
• Perform revenue recognition and unbilled revenue reconciliations, ensuring revenue is recognized accurately and in accordance with accounting policies.
• Partner with Project Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Project Managers to support reconciliations, revenue recognition, billing, and month-end activities.
• Ensure revenue and expenses are recorded in the appropriate accounting periods by monitoring project activity, identifying discrepancies, and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying automation opportunities, enhancing financial controls, streamlining month-end processes, and improving reporting capabilities.

Requirements

• CPA designation (or working toward CPA) is an asset
• Strong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Knowledge of payroll accounting, revenue recognition, accrual accounting, and cost accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex accounting issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and a mindset focused on continuous improvement and process optimization
