This Senior Accountant opportunity gives you the chance to do both.

You’ll join an established, mid-sized CPA firm in St. Catharines, working across accounting, assurance and tax for a varied portfolio of privately owned businesses and organizations.

The firm works with corporations, owner-managed businesses, partnerships, start-ups, not-for-profits and high-net-worth individuals, giving you considerably more variety than simply working through the same type of engagement every week.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead compilation engagements from planning through completion
  • Work across review and audit engagements
  • Prepare working papers and financial statements
  • Perform assurance procedures and resolve accounting issues
  • Prepare year-end adjusting entries
  • Prepare T2 corporate tax returns
  • Prepare T1 personal tax returns
  • Assist with other tax and information returns where required
  • Work directly with owner-managed businesses and private companies
  • Communicate directly with clients throughout engagements
  • Identify outstanding information and resolve file issues
  • Assist clients with accounting and year-end questions
  • Support Managers and Partners on more complex engagements
  • Review and assist with the development of junior staff
  • Gain exposure to planning and broader business advisory work

What they’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of Canadian CPA firm/public accounting experience
  • CPA designated or working toward completion
  • Audit experience would be an asset
  • Experience preparing financial statements and working papers
  • ASPE knowledge
  • ASNPO exposure would be beneficial
  • Personal tax experience
  • Comfortable dealing directly with clients
  • Experience helping or mentoring junior staff
  • CaseWare and Canadian tax software experience useful
  • Previous Canadian CPA firm/public accounting experience required
