Position Summary

A growing company in the Tampa Bay area is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of full-cycle general ledger accounting operations. This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-moving operational environment and is eager to become a trusted partner to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute month-end close procedures including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and detailed variance analysis across multiple balance sheet and income statement categories
• Reconcile bank accounts and borrowing base schedules with accuracy and consistency on a recurring basis
• Review and resolve discrepancies related to inventory valuation, landed cost allocations, and unit-of-measure inconsistencies
• Monitor purchase price variances and freight cost accruals to ensure accurate cost of goods reporting
• Administer multi-state sales and use tax compliance obligations, including resale certificate validation and ongoing audit readiness
• Coordinate annual 1099 processing and support corporate regulatory reporting requirements
• Perform end-to-end accounts payable functions across trade and overhead transactions, applying proper three-way match procedures
• Support accounts receivable operations as needed to ensure continuity and coverage across the accounting team
• Assist senior leadership with cash flow analysis, financial reporting packages, and management-level presentations
• Participate actively in an ongoing ERP system transition by documenting workflows, mapping processes, and testing functionality
• Contribute to internal control assessments and help identify opportunities to strengthen accounting procedures
• Partner closely with the CFO to develop a deep understanding of business operations and grow into a broader financial leadership role over time

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive, hands-on general ledger accounting experience in a wholesale xhqgsiq distribution, physical inventory, or manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, and variance analysis workflows
• Working knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax rules and resale certificate management
• Self-starter mentality with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and take full ownership of daily accounting operations

Preferred

• Experience with sales tax automation platforms
• Familiarity with ERP systems commonly used in distribution or manufacturing environments
• Exposure to ERP implementation or system migration projects
• Comfort operating across multiple accounting functions simultaneously in a lean team structure
