Our client is a successful and steadily growing firm in St. John's, NL , with a strong reputation and an expanding client base. They are looking to add an experienced Senior Accountant to their team - a dedicated accounting professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to contribute across a range of accounting and client needs.

This permanent , full-time, in-office opportunity offers the chance to take on greater responsibility, build specialized experience within the film and television industry, and work with additional clients in this sector.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of clients
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Complete monthly bank, credit card and general ledger reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and payments
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related working papers
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting and reporting processes
  • Prepare HST/GST remittances and other government filings
  • Assist with corporate tax preparation and related requirements
  • Review financial information, identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues
  • Maintain organized and accurate client files and supporting documentation
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding accounting, tax and financial reporting requirements
  • Support additional accounting, tax and client projects as the business continues to grow

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Minimum three years' experience in public practice accounting
  • CPA designation or progress toward the designation is considered an asset; however, candidates with equivalent experience and technical accounting expertise will be considered equally
  • Strong full-cycle accounting experience, ideally within public practice or a multi-client environment
  • Film, television or media industry experience is considered a strong asset
  • Comfortable managing multiple client files, priorities and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently
  • Professional and confident communicating directly with clients
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to take ownership of assigned work
  • Comfortable working with accounting software and technology
