Overview

As a Senior Analytics Engineer at Zego, you design and own scalable data models that power the business's data-driven decisions. You will shape our AI-first data platform, define patterns and conventions, and mentor a growing team of engineers. You’ll ensure trust in our data through robust testing, observability, and data contracts, while enabling self-serve analytics for stakeholders. This role combines architectural leadership with hands-on data engineering to impact how we measure and improve outcomes for our customers. You’ll work in a collaborative BI team focused on reliable, scalable data solutions and practical AI-enhanced tooling.

Responsibilities
  • Design robust, scalable data models and data exposures in dbt, Snowflake, and Looker; set team-wide patterns
  • Lead architecture decisions and trade-offs for the data platform
  • Leverage AI-assisted development to reduce boilerplate and improve intent-focused work
  • Read, review, and trust SQL (including AI-generated code) to ship reliable models
  • Wrangle and integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., Amplitude, Segment, Google Ads)
  • Define and champion trust infrastructure: testing, data contracts, observability
  • Own data quality, reliability, and stability across models and pipelines
  • Create secure data shares for external partners (e.g., S3, Snowflake Data Sharing)
  • Drive continuous improvement of data tooling, platform, and ways of working
  • Mentor and pair-program to raise engineering standards
  • Enable self-service BI capabilities and support data-driven decision-making
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer or similar role
  • Expert SQL (writing, debugging, and reviewing, including AI-generated code)
  • Proven experience designing and owning data models for warehousing and BI (dimensional modelling, defining grain)
  • Deep experience with dbt and modern data platforms (Snowflake, Looker, AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with version control tools (Git)
  • Exposure to Python for data/analytics tasks (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
  • Track record of mentoring, code reviews, and setting technical direction
  • Genuine interest in AI and staying ahead of tooling trends
  • Commercial acumen and ability to connect data work to business outcomes
  • Insurance domain experience is a plus
