Manchester – mainly remote working with occasional office visits

A professional services firm is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to lead data modelling within its Lakehouse environment. This is a hybrid role for someone with real depth in dimensional modelling who is equally comfortable building the engineering pipelines behind it. You’ll own the curated data layer, turning complex business requirements into robust, well-governed models that power analytics and reporting across the business.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, semantic layers and analytics engineering best practice

  • Proven hybrid experience across data modelling and data engineering in a modern data platform environment

  • Expert-level SQL and strong PySpark experience

  • Experience with Power BI, or a similar BI tool, and how models are built to support it

  • Experience with Databricks and Lakehouse architecture

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly

  • Experience mentoring or leading other engineers

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design and delivery of curated, analytics-ready dimensional and semantic models

  • Own KPI definitions, conformed dimensions and semantic consistency across domains

  • Build and maintain complex SQL and PySpark transformation pipelines on Databricks

  • Shape models that support reporting and analytics, including Power BI

  • Partner closely with Data Analysts, Data Architects, Data Engineers and business stakeholders

  • Lead modelling design reviews and contribute to architectural decisions

  • Ensure data quality, testing, observability and performance across the curated layer

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced analysts and engineers

  • Contribute to CI/CD, testing and governance standards across the data platform

What’s on offer

  • Salary up to 75K

  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy extra

  • Flexible, remote / hybrid working

  • Two paid volunteering days a year
  • Private healthcare cash plan and digital GP access

  • Wellbeing initiatives and a genuinely inclusive culture

*Please note you must be based in UK and the role cannot offer sponsorship*
