Senior Android Engineer - Design Systems

As a Design Systems Android Engineer at Wise, you’ll shape reusable UI patterns used across our apps, ensuring scalable, accessible experiences. You’ll join a cross-functional Design Systems team that partners with Product, Design, and other mobile engineers to strengthen brand consistency and performance. You’ll drive feature lifecycles from discovery to release, troubleshoot issues, and advocate for design-system best practices. This role offers impact at scale, working on foundations and tooling that power Wise’s global product. You’ll be part of a collaborative, growth-minded culture that values clarity, quality, and inclusive design.

• Lead or co-lead the full feature lifecycle from discovery to release and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and support product teams on design system-related issues.
• Champion Design Systems initiatives to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful experiences for internal and external users.
• Mentor new Wise engineers on design system concepts, tooling, and best practices.

• Expertise in building reusable UI components with Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with design tokens and global theme architecture (colors, spacing, typography).
• Ability to design clean, flexible APIs for easy developer integration.
• Experience with visual regression testing and UI performance optimization.
• Strong focus on accessible, inclusive design and usability testing.
• Clear communication, critical thinking, and proactive collaboration with peers.
• Willingness to learn, document, and contribute to RFCs and technical docs.
• Experience with design tooling and patterns; familiarity with Figma is a plus.
