Senior Application Architect (Java with AWS)

As an Application Architect for World-Check One, you will shape scalable risk and due-diligence solutions within a cross-functional software engineering team. You’ll lead architectural design across cloud-native, on-prem, and API ecosystems, while guiding engineers to deliver robust, secure, and cost-efficient applications. You’ll partner with product and business teams to translate requirements into concrete architectures and drive innovation in the LSEG ecosystem. This role offers influence over technology strategy and real, tangible impact on financial crime screening and risk management.

• Design logical, physical, and implementation architectures as required
• Own cloud infrastructure design and detailed application architecture
• Focus on cloud-native principles and cost-optimisation including autoscaling
• Support DevOps with CI/CD automation
• Guide governance, privacy, and risk analysis with development teams
• Lead production incident RCA and resolution
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts on high-level designs and timelines
• Champion quality-of-service requirements for availability, recoverability, performance, security, and capacity
• Develop architecture concepts for domain models, interoperability (API/Messaging), and data models
• Partner with Infrastructure to craft physical architectures and mentoring of other architects
• Produce proofs of concept and contribute to architecture governance and standards
• Communicate complex technical visions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• Deliver technical training, presentations, and white papers to internal and external audiences

• Extensive experience in architecting scalable distributed systems
• Proven track record delivering Application and Cloud Architectures
• Significant AWS experience
• Strong understanding of Messaging Services and modern architecture patterns
• Experience with multi-tenancy, sharding, queues, throttling, and CAP theorem concepts
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Elasticsearch)
• Strong Java skills; experience with Python, Spring Boot, Node.js, JavaScript
• Familiarity with AI tools usage in applications
• Experience with Enterprise Integration Patterns and authentication methods (SAML, OIDC, OAuth2)
• Excellent communication with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
• Awareness of GDPR and ISO standards
• Desirable understanding of risk management and financial markets
