Applications Engineering
- The candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting site commissioning, startup, and performance verification of hydrogen fueling stations and equipment.
- The candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting complex electrical, instrumentation, controls, and process-related issues in the field.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing system diagnostics and root cause analysis to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting preventive maintenance activities and developing recommendations for operational improvements.
- The candidate will be responsible for producing commissioning reports, field service documentation, and corrective action recommendations.
Controls, Instrumentation & Automation Support
- The candidate will be responsible for configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting PLC and HMI systems for hydrogen infrastructure equipment.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting with instrumentation selection, calibration verification, and troubleshooting activities.
- The candidate must work with controls engineers to implement software enhancements and hardware upgrades.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting hazardous-area instrumentation and electrical equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Factory Testing & Product Development
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and system validation activities.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing field feedback to engineering teams to improve product performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- The candidate will be responsible for participating in product improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- The candidate will be responsible for assisting with hardware revisions and component substitutions based on market availability and operational lessons learned.
- The candidate will be responsible for supporting HAZOP studies, risk assessments, and safety reviews.
Customer Support & Training
- The candidate will be responsible for conducting customer training on system operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- The candidate will be responsible for providing detailed technical guidance to technicians, electricians, and service personnel.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent from a recognized university.
- The candidate must have registration, or eligibility for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- The candidate must have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in industrial automation, commissioning, field service, applications engineering, or related engineering roles.
- The candidate must have experience supporting industrial systems throughout installation, commissioning, and operational phases.
- The candidate must have demonstrated customer-facing technical support experience.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with industrial automation systems.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with PLC and HMI platforms, with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and control valves.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with electrical control systems and motor control circuits.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with process controls and P&ID interpretation.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with industrial troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong familiarity with hazardous-area electrical installations.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with CAD and technical documentation.
- The candidate must have strong familiarity with CSA C22.1, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and applicable IEC standards.
- The candidate should have strong familiarity with hydrogen, compressed gas, or other industrial process systems (preferred).
- The candidate must have strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
- The candidate must have excellent customer service and relationship management abilities.
- The candidate must be able to work independently in field environments with limited supervision.
- The candidate must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively under pressure.
- The candidate must have the willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites throughout North America.
- The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to safety and quality.
