About the Role

A boutique law firm is seeking a Senior Bankruptcy Attorney to lead and grow its bankruptcy and restructuring practice. You will advise investment funds on distressed portfolio companies and work alongside attorneys serving the firms existing clients.

What Youll Do

Lead the bankruptcy and restructuring practice as its senior department head.

Advise investment funds on debt-side restructuring and workouts involving troubled portfolio companies.

Handle both in-court bankruptcy matters and out-of-court restructurings.

Manage 300 to 400 hours annually of firm-generated bankruptcy work alongside your portable practice.

Mentor and direct a junior associate with bankruptcy experience.

Develop your existing practice and build client relationships on a supportive platform.

What Were Looking For

At least 15 years of bankruptcy, restructuring, and debtor-creditor experience.

A portable bankruptcy and restructuring practice generating approximately $1 million to $1.5 million in annual collections.

Substantial experience with corporate restructuring, debt-side advisory, in-court bankruptcy, and out-of-court workouts.

A record of originating and managing client relationships, with an entrepreneurial interest in growing a practice.

Experience advising investment funds on distressed portfolio company debt is valuable.

A J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.

Ability to work collaboratively in a boutique firm environment. Prior large law firm experience is preferred.

Stable career history and eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $250,000 to $300,000 annually, with potential for a path to equity partnership and additional compensation upside. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Hybrid, based in New York, New York, with an expectation of coming to the office approximately three days per week.
