Senior Audit Associate

Our client, a leading independent Public Accounting firm , is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and service-oriented Senior Audit Associate to join their growing team in Burlington, Ontario .

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional looking to take the next step in their public accounting career. The successful candidate will lead larger and more complex engagements, work directly with clients, strengthen their technical expertise, and provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and completion of audit and review engagements for private businesses and not-for-profit organizations.
• Prepare related corporate income tax returns and independently complete compilation engagements.
• Develop appropriate audit approaches based on identified risks and evaluate findings for their impact on financial statements, management letters, and audit reports.
• Research and address non-routine accounting and assurance matters in accordance with ASPE, ASNPO, and Canadian Auditing Standards.
• Coordinate engagement planning, including engagement letters, client requests, budgets, timelines, staffing, fieldwork, and completion .
• Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of client service.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to junior team members to support their professional development.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and communicate engagement requirements, progress, findings, and issues clearly and professionally.
• Identify and resolve engagement issues, escalating complex matters to Managers or Partners when appropriate.
• Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and team workflow, proactively identifying potential delays or variances and recommending solutions.
• Analyze financial information, identify significant areas and risks, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Stay current with developments in accounting, assurance, and taxation and apply relevant knowledge to client engagements.
• Continue developing the technical and professional competencies expected at the Senior Associate level.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of audit and assurance experience within a public accounting firm, including at least two busy seasons .
• Demonstrated experience leading or acting as the senior team member on audit and review engagements .
• CPA designation completed or actively pursuing the CPA designation , with expected completion within the next 12 months.
• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field .
• Proficiency with CaseWare/CaseView and TaxPrep .
• Working knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, Canadian Auditing Standards, and Canadian corporate taxation .
• Experience researching and assessing non-routine accounting and assurance matters is an asset.
• Strong client service and relationship management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and professional-judgment abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements, deadlines, and competing priorities .
• Reliable transportation, as occasional travel may be required.
