Senior AWS Platform Engineer - SC Cleared

In this role you will design and deliver secure, scalable cloud platforms to support mission-critical government and defence services. You will own end-to-end platform engineering, working with AWS, Terraform and modern automation to improve security, reliability and efficiency. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers and drive engineering standards. This is a hands-on role with a focus on continuous improvement, learning opportunities and tangible impact. • Architect, build and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud platforms for mission-critical applications
• Develop reusable Terraform modules and IaC to improve consistency and scalability
• Design, maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines using GitLab for automated software delivery
• Develop and support containerised and serverless solutions with Docker and AWS Lambda
• Embed security, resilience and operational best practices across the platform lifecycle
• Use Python, Bash and automation to streamline operations and boost performance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary agile teams and influence engineering decisions
• Mentor fellow engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices
• Identify opportunities to adopt emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement

• Strong hands-on experience in cloud platform engineering with AWS
• Terraform, Infrastructure as Code and reusable infrastructure modules
• Knowledge of AWS services, cloud-native architectures and platform engineering principles
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitLab and GitLab CI/CD
• Experience with Docker and containerised applications
• Experience with serverless architectures using AWS Lambda and managed services
• Scripting skills in Python or Bash
• Ability to produce clear, high-quality technical designs and documentation
• Experience working in agile teams and contributing to engineering standards
• Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
