Overview

In this role you will design, develop and maintain scalable Python-based backend services that underpin innovative digital customer experiences. You will shape backend architecture and translate business needs into robust solutions, working closely with Product, Design and Sales to influence technical decisions. You’ll lead by example in engineering practices, mentor peers and help evolve the platform in a fast-paced, product-led environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python
  • Translate complex business requirements into robust designs and architecture
  • Develop scalable applications, data processing solutions and microservices
  • Evaluate tools, frameworks and technologies to improve outcomes
  • Collaborate with Product, Design and Sales to deliver technical solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, pair programming and presentations
  • Share knowledge and best practices across the team
  • Identify opportunities to improve development workflows and Agile processes
  • Provide technical leadership and support to other engineers
  • Mentor engineering talent and foster a culture of technical excellence
  • Help shape platform, architecture and wider engineering practices
Key requirements
  • Strong backend experience with Python and scalable system design
  • Experience building scalable backend services using Python with any framework
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design, data structures and SOLID principles
  • Knowledge of databases, data processing and distributed systems
  • Experience designing maintainable software architectures and reliable services
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative approach with engineers, product teams and business stakeholders
  • Interest in continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and modern software engineering practices
