Senior Backend Engineer

In this role you will help build scalable backend systems for Plum’s AI-driven saving and investing platform. You will work closely with product and engineering to deliver robust services that underpin user journeys across Europe. You will diagnose issues, drive improvements, and shape architectural decisions that support rapid iteration. You’ll mentor teammates and share product insights to align technical work with business goals. This is a hands-on opportunity to influence core infrastructure while advancing Plum’s mission to grow money for life.

• Design modular, scalable, and well-tested backend services with clear interfaces
• Diagnose root causes of system issues and implement both short- and long-term fixes
• Contribute across the full software lifecycle and iterate based on feedback
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform design and product decisions
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices
• Seek opportunities to improve processes and quality across the team

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Strong planning and prioritization skills
• Ability to mentor junior team members
• Excellent communication of complex technical topics
• Experience in cross-functional, collaborative environments
• Proficiency in multiple programming paradigms; strong problem-solving approach
• Familiarity with Python and related tooling is valued but not strictly required
