Senior Backend Engineer

In this role you will lead the design and evolution of backend systems and data pipelines for OneSuite, building scalable, reliable, and secure services. You will shape architecture, drive engineering standards, and mentor peers while delivering production-grade code. You’ll work across product, data, and SRE teams to enable campaign activation across Search, Social, Programmatic, and Measurement. This is a hands-on position at a data-driven, platform-powered marketing technology group with a strong focus on performance and observability.

• Architect distributed backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI, or equivalent frameworks
• Design modular, observable backend components for orchestration, data pipelines, and platform integrations
• Define microservices patterns, caching, queuing, resiliency, and error handling
• Build service-to-service communication (REST, gRPC, event-driven)
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and multi-tenant access controls
• Design and maintain data pipelines with PySpark and Databricks using medallion architecture
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows for marketing performance data at scale
• Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure clean, well-modeled data assets across the lakehouse
• Implement data quality checks, schema enforcement, and lineage tracking
• Write clean production-ready code; integrate with external APIs; maintain CI/CD and IaC
• Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and contribute to SDKs and backend frameworks
• Implement tracing, logging, metrics, dashboards, and alerting; optimize latency and cost
• Ensure reliability through automated tests, load testing, and error budgets; work with SRE on SLIs/SLOs
• Collaborate with product, data, and SRE teams; align architecture decisions across campaigns

• Extensive backend engineering experience with ownership over services or distributed systems
• Expertise in Python, FastAPI, and Flask
• Strong understanding of microservices, concurrency, async programming, and event-driven architectures
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB) and lakehouse familiarity
• Experience with PySpark and Databricks, medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CloudFormation, and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP)
• Strong CI/CD experience using GitHub Actions, Argo, or similar tools
• Deep knowledge of observability practices (logs, metrics, traces) and performance analysis
• Proven ability to write clean, testable, production-grade code
