Senior Backend Engineer, Cloud Platform

As a Senior Software Engineer on ClickUp’s Cloud Platform team, you’ll design, build, and operate scalable AWS infrastructure with a focus on Amazon EKS to power ClickUp for millions of users. You will improve reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency and work closely with SRE, Security, product, AI, and enterprise teams. You’ll leverage AI daily to accelerate development, IaC, and operations, helping the platform meet enterprise security and compliance needs. This role offers meaningful impact at scale in a fast-evolving AI-driven environment.

• Build and scale AWS infrastructure and reusable platform abstractions focusing on EKS, networking, and self-hosted services
• Identify improvement opportunities and risks; propose solutions to enhance reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency
• Automate shard buildouts and implement Terraform guardrails and hardened ingress to reduce incidents
• Scale systems for multi-shard, multi-region growth while meeting compliance attestations (SOC 2, ISO 27001) and disaster recovery requirements
• Partner with SRE, Security, product, AI, and enterprise teams to bridge infrastructure and product engineering
• Own the reliability of Cloud Platform: on-call, incident response, postmortems, runbooks, and prevention
• Use AI tooling daily to accelerate development, testing, IaC, operations, and investigations, and raise the team’s AI leverage

• 6+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems with a focus on infrastructure and cloud
• Deep, hands-on experience with production Kubernetes (preferably Amazon EKS)
• Strong AWS experience: EKS, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC, IAM, S3, KMS; Bedrock is a plus
• Multi-account AWS experience (20+ accounts); Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, VPC routing, DNS, load balancing
• Infrastructure-as-code at scale with Terraform (CDK experience is a plus)
• Fluent coding in Go, Python, or TypeScript/Node.js
• Experience with hybrid monolith/microservices architectures
• Experience operating data stores at scale (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, Redis/Valkey)
• Track record of improving infrastructure reliability and security guardrails
• Strong production debugging and cross-functional collaboration; daily AI usage with tangible examples
