Senior Backend Engineer, Core DevOps

As a Senior Backend Engineer at GitLab, you will design and evolve backend capabilities, solve high-scope problems, and influence technical direction across teams. You’ll raise quality, reliability, and performance while operating across product, frontend, infrastructure, data, and security domains. You’ll shape architecture for a global platform used by millions and lead with pragmatic trade-offs. You’ll experiment with agentic AI to enhance production engineering workflows, delivering meaningful user value in a remote-first, autonomous environment.

• Design and ship moderately to complex backend features with minimal guidance
• Define backend standards for style, maintainability, testing, APIs, and operations
