Senior Backend Engineer - Developer Experience

As Senior C# Engineer, you will help modernise Trainline’s backend by applying cloud-native practices and automation. You’ll work with Platform Engineering, Infra and product teams to uplift reliability, scalability and developer experience. Your impact spans reusable patterns, tooling, and migrations that accelerate delivery and reduce operational risk. • Modernise .NET services and containerise for Amazon ECS
• Design resilient distributed systems with improved health checks, fault tolerance, and observability
• Create reusable templates and best practices for .NET migrations (DI, config, logging, monitoring, deployment)
• Develop automation and AI-assisted tooling to accelerate cloud migration
• optimise containerised workloads for performance and cost
• Drive adoption of cloud-native practices across teams and influence technical direction
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline enhancements for faster, safer delivery
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and engineering community engagement

• Strong experience with C# and .NET
• Knowledge of distributed systems, resilience, observability, scalability and performance
• Experience designing reusable engineering patterns or libraries
• Excellent collaboration and communication across engineering teams
• Continuous learning mindset and drive to modernise legacy systems
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform (or equivalent)
• Experience building cloud-native apps using containers and AWS/ECS
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools and applying AI to workflows
