Overview

In this role you will architect and deliver large-scale services that power Roku's browse and discovery platform, serving millions of devices and users. You will partner closely with product and design to move concepts from idea to production, deploying features with rapid iteration and A/B testing. You will drive best practices across the development lifecycle, from design reviews to maintenance, focusing on reliability, scaling, and automation. Responsibilities
  • Build extremely large-scale platform products and services used by Roku engineers and consumers
  • Collaborate with Product/Design to take ideas from ideation to production deployment and support
  • Lead the evaluation of new technologies and promote best practices across the development lifecycle
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Participate in Agile processes including scoping, technical design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance
Key requirements
  • Strong software development experience with Java (Python is a plus)
  • Experience building large-scale cloud services, preferably on AWS
  • Experience selecting data stores and analyzing trade-offs
  • Experience with in-memory caching layers (Redis, Redis Cluster, Memcached)
  • Track record of monitoring deploy quality and troubleshooting production systems
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end web architecture from client to data center
  • Master's degree in CS, CE or equivalent experience
  • Curiosity and a global mindset
  • Grity problem-solving and self-starting attitude
  • Ability to collaborate with product and commercial teams across organizations
