Senior Backend Engineer - Java

Senior Backend Engineer (Java) to design and build cloud-native, microservices-based platforms for Tier 1 financial institutions. You will work within Capco's Technology & Engineering team in Scotland, delivering scalable, secure cloud solutions on AWS with Java and Spring Boot. You’ll influence backend design, advocate agile practices, and contribute to modern banking technology initiatives. This role offers hybrid Edinburgh/Glasgow work with a focus on impactful, enterprise-grade software.

• Design and implement microservices using Java 11+ and Spring Boot
• Develop cloud-native solutions with a focus on AWS infrastructure
• Create and manage robust CI/CD pipelines and secure deployments
• Write comprehensive tests and promote quality-driven development
• Collaborate in agile teams, contribute to design decisions, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement

• Expert-level Java development (Java 11, 17, 21+).
• Proficiency in Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of public cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Experience with cloud-native, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• CI/CD pipelines, SQL/NoSQL databases, Kafka, and Java Streaming.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation) and secure design practices.
