Overview

As a Senior .NET Engineer at Trainline, you’ll own delivering new features for our core journey search and eCommerce platform, shaping a scalable, reliable product used across Europe. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep customer value at the forefront, continuously improve the codebase, and mentor others while guiding end-to-end delivery from code to production. You’ll influence architectural decisions and contribute to a culture of high quality and operational excellence. This role offers impact at scale within a mission-driven, sustainability-focused rail tech company.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver new functionality or features using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Ensure quality is central to the team’s work
  • Continuously improve the code base
  • Identify blockers and remove waste
  • Contribute to technical decisions
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Own the development lifecycle from code to production, including deployment and monitoring
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers and other disciplines to deliver end-to-end features
Key requirements
  • Hands-on experience with C#/.NET (latest features)
  • Experience building and operating microservices architectures
  • Experience with identity and authentication systems (IdentityServer, OpenID Connect, OAuth2)
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Spacelift)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP valuable)
  • Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform)
  • Strong observability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting)
  • Familiarity with New Relic and ELK stack (or equivalents)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience supporting production systems and reliability improvements
  • Curiosity about AI and emerging tools
