Senior Backend Engineer (Remote) - UK

In this role you contribute to a cross‑functional engineering team building a scalable, market‑leading research platform. You will own and improve services, collaborate with product and design to solve real customer problems, and mentor junior engineers. You’ll work across React frontend and Kotlin microservices, with some Rails, and participate in fast, feedback‑driven iterations using CircleCI and Spinnaker. This position emphasizes high performance, impact, and ongoing skill development in a dynamic environment.

• Define and implement technical solutions aligned with the architectural vision for a scalable platform
• Deliver working code across frontend (React) and backend (Kotlin, Ruby on Rails) services
• Deploy frequently using CI/CD (CircleCI, Spinnaker) and iterate based on user feedback
• Mentor junior engineers and maintain ownership of the services managed by the team
• Monitor, diagnose, and fix issues in production services to minimize user impact
• Collaborate with product managers and designers in a cross‑functional setup

• Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent practical path
• 5+ years in a mature engineering team
• Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Ruby, with relational databases experience
• Proven track record of delivering impactful results
