Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python/Django)

In this role you will own and deliver production-grade backend solutions that power client-facing risk analytics. You will develop in Python and Django, shaping architecture, security, and reliability for scalable services. Working across product, QA, and platform teams, you’ll advance automation and responsibly apply AI-assisted development. • Own meaningful backend engineering work from design to deployment
• Build production Python and Django services that support client-facing technology
• Influence architecture, security, reliability, testing, and maintainability decisions
• Collaborate with product, QA, platform, and engineering teams across the software lifecycle
• Advance automation and responsible use of AI-assisted development
• Apply engineering skills to data and technology designed to illuminate global risks

• Strong commercial software engineering experience building and supporting backend services in production
• Strong hands-on Python development experience
• Production experience with Django (request lifecycle, ORM, migrations, configuration, testing)
• Experience designing maintainable APIs and backend systems with REST, data modeling, and relational databases
• Knowledge of authentication/authorization including SSO and secure API design
• Experience with automated testing, peer code review, CI/CD, and delivery practices
• Experience diagnosing live environment issues (application, database, networking, performance)
• Understanding of cloud-hosted apps and infrastructure as code, ideally AWS
• Strong understanding of backend security risks and lifecycle-wide mitigation
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues
