Senior BI Analytics Engineer

In this role you will bridge data engineering and business insight to turn raw data into trusted models and actionable reporting. You will own the data transformation layer (dbt) on GCP (BigQuery) and build self-serve analytics via Looker, partnering with stakeholders across the business. You’ll define core metrics, ensure data quality, and mentor others while optimizing performance and cost. This is a chance to shape analytics across a high-growth car marketplace and media business.

• Design, build and maintain scalable data models with dbt on BigQuery
• Create and maintain Looker dashboards and explores for self-serve analytics
• Translate business requirements into data models, metrics and visualisations
• Define and maintain core business metrics and data definitions with stakeholders
• Implement data quality checks, testing and documentation within dbt
• Partner with stakeholders across commercial, product, marketing, finance and operations
• Optimize query performance and manage BigQuery cost efficiency
• Mentor junior analysts and promote analytics engineering best practices

• Analytics engineering, BI or data analytics experience
• Strong SQL skills with performance tuning
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms and distributed warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake)
• Proven experience with dbt (modelling, testing, documentation)
• Experience building dashboards in Looker (LookML a plus)
• Solid data modelling knowledge (star schema, dimensional modelling)
• Experience with large-scale datasets
