We are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to join our office team and take responsibility for the day-to-day financial administration and bookkeeping functions of the company.

This is an important position within our organization. We are looking for someone who is accurate, organized, dependable, comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities, and able to provide management with reliable and timely financial information.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for full-cycle bookkeeping and financial administration, including:

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Payroll processing and related payroll administration
  • Bank and credit-card reconciliations
  • General ledger entries and account reconciliations
  • GST preparation and remittances
  • WCB reporting and related financial administration
  • Month-end reconciliation and reporting
  • Maintaining accurate and organized financial records
  • Monitoring cash flow and upcoming financial obligations
  • Preparing financial information and reports for management
  • Assisting with budgeting and financial tracking
  • Preparing year-end information and documentation
  • Working directly with the company's external accountant
  • Identifying discrepancies and following through until they are resolved
  • Maintaining confidentiality of company, employee, and customer financial information
  • Supporting management with financial information and other accounting-related requirements as needed

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who can independently manage the bookkeeping function and understands how the different pieces of a company's finances fit together.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Experience completing bank and credit-card reconciliations
  • Working knowledge of GST, WCB, and standard Canadian business accounting practices
  • Experience assisting with month-end and year-end processes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify errors or inconsistencies and investigate them independently
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of an office team
  • A high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and accounting software

Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • Demonstrated experience with full-cycle bookkeeping

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Experience working in a construction, service, trades, or similar business environment
  • Experience working directly with management and external accountants
  • Experience preparing financial reports for management

Formal accounting education is an asset; however, we place significant value on demonstrated experience and the ability to independently manage full-cycle bookkeeping.

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
