Overview

As Senior Build Tools Engineer, you drive the evolution of our multi-project build pipelines and CI/automation infrastructure to support parallel, large-scale Total War development. You shape standards, mentor teammates, and own critical improvements that boost developer productivity and CI stability. This role blends hands-on coding with architectural leadership, influencing tools and workflows across the studio. You’ll collaborate across build, tools, QA, and game teams, delivering scalable solutions in a hybrid Horsham setup.

Responsibilities
  • Own and evolve CA’s multi-project build pipelines (pre-submit, post-submit, tests, console/PC workflows)
  • Improve CI reliability, error detection, logging standards, and quality guardrails
  • Strengthen deployment pipelines for internal and external platforms with consistent releases
  • Design and maintain backend services (build storage, symbol servers, archiving, dashboards) at scale
  • Write production-ready C++ and C# code, with emphasis on quality and testing
  • Participate in rotating on-call support to triage build/test issues
  • Establish metrics and dashboards to surface reliability trends and improvements
  • Identify bottlenecks in hardware utilization, storage, CI capacity, and build roadmaps
  • Support engineers through knowledge sharing, documentation, and enhanced practices
  • Collaborate with test automation to integrate quality gates into CI for fast feedback
Key requirements
  • Strong experience designing, operating and improving build systems, CI/CD pipelines or DevOps platforms at scale
  • Strong programming ability in C++, plus C# or an equivalent scripting language
  • Deep debugging skills across complex multi-component systems
  • Experience with console automation (PS5/Xbox)
  • Experience with online store APIs (e.g. Steam/MS)
  • Familiarity with Perforce or similar version control systems in large team environments
  • Familiarity with branching strategies in large-scale, multi-project environments
  • Strong communication skills to influence across disciplines and leadership
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on work with architectural thinking
