Overview

As a Senior Cheat Software Engineer at Rockstar Games, you will strengthen the integrity of our titles by researching and implementing robust anti-cheat measures. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate threats and adapt to evolving attack vectors, helping to protect player experience. You will reverse engineer and analyse game behaviors to root out vulnerabilities and drive security improvements. This in-office role in Edinburgh offers the chance to shape security in large-scale AAA games within a highly-motivated, collaborative studio.

Responsibilities
  • Reverse engineer, analyze, debug, and document application behaviors
  • Develop, tune, and support anti-cheat measures and in-game abuse prevention systems
  • Drive root cause analysis of vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve security controls and detection
  • Support development of internal tooling and anti-cheat solutions
  • Identify gaps in anti-cheat capabilities and detection workflows to enhance security posture
Key requirements
  • 5+ years experience in reverse engineering software/malware analysis
  • Strong C/C++ skills and experience with large codebases
  • Proven experience analyzing software and malware via static and dynamic analysis
  • Experience circumventing anti-analysis and anti-debugging techniques
  • Strong analytical mind with problem-solving skills
  • Experience with scripting and process automation for reverse engineering and binary analysis
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders
