Senior Cloud Engineer

As Senior Cloud Engineer for ML Platforms, you design and evolve AWS-based infrastructure to support the full ML lifecycle for computational biology projects. You collaborate with researchers, ML engineers and platform teams to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable cloud environments, enabling experimentation, training, deployment and production operations. You’ll contribute to the AI Accelerator in London, helping researchers scale and deploy advanced AI solutions for biomedical challenges. This role blends cloud engineering with MLOps to accelerate cutting-edge research. You will shape the platform that underpins impactful biomedical AI work.

• Design and maintain AWS-based infrastructure for ML workloads (SageMaker, networking, IAM, storage, compute, model endpoints)
• Manage cloud environments with Infrastructure as Code ensuring compliance and governance
• Monitor performance, security findings, and resource utilization; proactively resolve issues
• Plan capacity (CPU, GPU, storage, networking) balancing performance and cost
• Build and support MLOps infrastructure (CI/CD, experiment tracking, model registries, automated workflows)
• Create reusable automation to simplify onboarding and improve user experience for researchers
• Enable integrations between AWS services and Databricks, MLflow, Jenkins, Bitbucket, OpenShift and related platforms
• Act as primary technical contact translating research requirements into cloud solutions
• Create and maintain technical documentation and contribute to evaluating new cloud/MLOps technologies

• Hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure design, implementation and support
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (SageMaker, IAM, networking, storage, compute) and container technologies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation
• Understanding of cloud security, governance, compliance and access management
• Experience supporting ML, data science or MLOps platforms
• Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools for software and ML delivery
• Experience with Databricks, MLflow, Jenkins, Bitbucket, OpenShift or similar platforms
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and improve platform reliability
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration across international teams
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
