Senior Cloud Engineer

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, delivering and enabling secure, scalable and mission-critical cloud capabilities.

Working at the forefront of cloud engineering, you’ll provide technical leadership across projects, programmes and bids, collaborating with project managers, customers and highly skilled engineering teams.

This is an opportunity to work on complex and technically challenging programmes where your expertise will directly contribute to innovative solutions supporting critical UK defence capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery teams, providing direction, guidance and mentoring to junior and developing engineers.
• Provide technical leadership across cloud engineering projects, programmes and bid activities.
• Design and deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions for new and existing customers.
• Support the development and growth of cloud engineering capability across the organisation.
• Contribute to technical resourcing and capability decisions.
• Produce and maintain design certifications, technical delivery plans and high-level and detailed technical documentation.
• Develop testing strategies and schedules to support successful technical delivery.
• Translate customer and business requirements into practical, innovative cloud solutions.
• Stay informed about emerging cloud technologies and apply relevant developments to future solutions.
• Work closely with project managers, technical teams and senior stakeholders to ensure successful end-to-end delivery.
• Solve complex engineering and technical challenges, developing creative and pragmatic solutions to customer problems.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
• Proven experience developing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Experience leading, mentoring or managing technical delivery teams.
• The ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• A proven track record of delivering cloud engineering projects from conception through to successful completion.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex technical challenges.
