As a Controls Engineer in Abbott’s Witney Operations, you will apply advanced control-system thinking to optimize manufacturing automation for glucose monitoring components. - Develop and apply innovative control solutions for manufacturing automation
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues on motion-control systems
- Interpret PLC codes, debug issues and support continuous improvement
- Fault-find and modify PLC, HMI, and motion-control aspects of automated equipment
- Work with Siemens S7/TIA Portal and Allen Bradley Studio 5000; exposure to structured language
- Document procedures and maintain compliance in a regulated environment
- Contribute to cross-functional engineering projects across production, R&D, and systems
- Experience on automation projects and delivering solutions to complex automation needs
- Proven track record of fault finding and modifying PLC, HMI, and motion-control systems
- Qualified to HNC level or higher in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering (or equivalent via apprenticeship)
- Essential experience with Siemens S7/TIA Portal and Allen Bradley Studio 5000
- Desirable exposure to structured language in both platforms
- Knowledge of Oracle database is advantageous
