As a Central Technology engineer, you explore and evaluate technologies to mitigate faults in CPUs, feeding promising ideas into future projects. You collaborate with CPU design teams to translate investigations into robust, best-in-class solutions. You work on feasibility studies and document results to guide engineering decisions. The role sits at the core of Arm’s mission to deliver dependable, scalable interconnects and control subsystems across product generations. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape safety-aware, innovative technologies for a broad range of devices.
Responsibilities- Conduct technical explorations and feasibility studies on existing and new ideas to mitigate faults in CPUs
- Evaluate promising features for forthcoming CPU projects and communicate results
- Describe investigation outcomes and collaborate with CPU design teams to implement technologies
- Contribute to ensuring subsystem coherence and technical validation across Arm’s product portfolio
- Support roadmap development for core interconnect and control subsystems across markets
- Degree in Computer Science, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or other related field
- Good technical understanding of CPUs and their role within SoCs or MCUs
- Demonstrated capability for innovative exploratory investigations and feasibility assessments
- Ability to work efficiently alone as well as in a team environment
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to influence engineering decisions
- Knowledge of hardware safety principles (fault tolerance, failure modes, redundancy techniques)
- Familiarity with hardware design techniques for safety or RAS
- Experience with hardware description languages (Verilog/SystemVerilog) and verification methodologies
