Senior Cyber Engineer

In this role you will lead the development and optimisation of security technologies within a large, complex estate, providing senior technical guidance and embedding security into day-to-day operations. You will work with security leaders, architects, and operations teams to ensure effective tool configuration and meaningful protection. You’ll report on security performance to senior stakeholders and mentor a small engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership position with a strong focus on risk-based improvements and measurable security outcomes.

• Maintain and develop key security technologies to support Security Operations
• Collaborate with security architects and operations teams to tune configurations and performance
• Lead technical efforts to strengthen protection and logging across technologies
• Serve as a senior technical SME for security projects and transition them to BAU
• Produce KPI and KRI reporting with actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders
• Foster strong relationships across technology teams and guide security tool deployment
• Lead and coordinate third-party suppliers to meet delivery and SLAs
• Coach and develop junior engineers and guide delivery of a small team

• At least five years in a security engineering role within a large, complex organisation
• Broad experience deploying and configuring security technologies in complex environments
• Deep knowledge of SIEM, DLP, firewalls, cloud security, intrusion prevention, threat intelligence and vulnerability scanning
• Strong leadership, stakeholder influence, and supplier management skills
• Excellent analytical ability and capacity to switch between strategic and technical details
• Clear written, verbal and presentation communication for diverse audiences
• Calm under pressure, direction setting, and timely decision-making
