Senior Cyber Security Consultant
4C
4C Strategies is an independent IT consultancy working with organisations across the public and private sectors. As our cyber security practice continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Cyber Security Consultant to strengthen our team.
We are looking for someone with a broad cyber security background and strong technical understanding, rather than a specialist in one particular discipline. You will work across a varied portfolio of consultancy assignments, combining technical knowledge with the ability to understand client requirements, provide practical advice and communicate effectively with different audiences.
The Role
As a Senior Cyber Security Consultant, you will deliver cyber security consultancy assignments both independently and as part of wider project teams.
The work will vary depending on our clients and the continued development of our cyber services. It could include technical security reviews, cyber assessments, security architecture, risk and assurance, resilience, security improvement programmes, procurement support and wider cyber advisory work.
You will not be expected to be the specialist in every area. We are looking for someone who brings strong technical foundations, consultancy experience and the ability to apply their knowledge across different client environments.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver Cyber Security consultancy assignments across a range of clients and sectors.
- Review client environments and identify security risks, weaknesses and areas requiring further investigation.
- Provide practical technical and advisory input across different areas of Cyber Security.
- Translate technical findings into clear, proportionate advice for clients.
- Work with technical teams, suppliers, service owners and senior stakeholders.
- Facilitate client discussions, interviews and workshops.
- Produce clear, high-quality consultancy reports and other client deliverables.
- Contribute to wider cyber assessments, assurance and improvement programmes where required.
- Work alongside colleagues with different cyber specialisms, sharing knowledge and supporting delivery.
- Contribute to the continued development of 4C's Cyber Security services as the practice grows.
What you'll bring
- Good experience working within Cyber Security, ideally across more than one area.
- Strong technical understanding of Cyber Security and how security controls operate in real world IT environments.
- The ability to understand unfamiliar environments, investigate issues and form sound conclusions.
- Experience working directly with customers or stakeholders.
- The confidence to take responsibility for delivering consultancy assignments with support from the wider team.
- The ability to explain technical subjects clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong written communication and the ability to produce professional client deliverables.
- A practical and proportionate approach to security rather than simply applying frameworks or standards.
- Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK when required.
We would be interested in candidates with experience across some of the following, but we do not expect applicants to cover them all:
- Security architecture and technical security reviews
- Cloud, infrastructure or network security
- Identity and access management
- Vulnerability and security control management
- Cyber security assessments and assurance
- Governance and risk
- Cyber resilience and incident preparedness
- Security aspects of technology procurement or transformation
- Recognised frameworks such as NCSC CAF, Cyber Essentials or ISO/IEC 27001
Relevant industry certifications would be beneficial, but practical experience and the ability to apply cyber security knowledge effectively are more important than holding a particular certification.
The person we're looking for
We are looking for someone who is technically credible, adaptable and comfortable working with clients.
You might already work in Cyber Security consultancy, or you may have developed strong technical cyber experience within an organisation and be looking to move further into consulting.
You will be comfortable working independently, but equally comfortable collaborating with colleagues who bring different skills and specialisms. Most importantly, you will be able to understand a client's situation, ask the right questions and turn technical knowledge into clear and practical advice.
- Join a growing cyber security practice and help develop our capability as demand increases.
- Work across a varied range of cyber security assignments rather than being restricted to one specialism.
- Work with clients across both the public and private sectors .
- Work alongside consultants with experience across cyber security and the wider technology landscape.
- Contribute to the development of new cyber services as the practice expands.
- Work for an independent consultancy where advice is not driven by technology product sales.
- Ongoing professional development and support for relevant training and certifications.
Package
- £60,000 to £70,000, depending on experience
- Option to purchase an additional five days' holiday
- Home based, with an expectation of one day per week in the Market Harborough office
- Travel to UK client sites as required
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development
