In this role you drive data and AI transformation programmes for external clients, leading technical workstreams and shaping scalable data and AI solutions. You mentor engineers, collaborate with analysts and product teams, and deliver high-quality, value-driven outcomes. You will work across data platforms, pipelines, ML and Generative AI, including LLM-enabled use cases. This is a hands-on leadership role in a consultancy setting with a focus on practical delivery and technical excellence.

• Lead technical workstreams within data and AI transformation programmes
• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines, datasets and data models
• Develop analytics, reporting, ML and AI solutions
• Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
• Develop AI/ML solutions including prediction, classification, automation and insight generation
• Build Generative AI-enabled solutions using LLMs, prompt and context engineering
• Provide technical direction to project teams ensuring scalable, reliable delivery
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Product teams and stakeholders to translate requirements
• Implement testing, validation and monitoring for data accuracy and model performance
• Optimize data processing, storage and AI workloads for performance and efficiency
• Produce technical documentation covering pipelines and data models
• Ensure data governance, security and privacy adherence
• Work in Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams

• Background in Data Engineering or AI Engineering or similar
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
• Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines and handling structured and unstructured data
• Experience leading technical workstreams or ownership of major project delivery
• Mentoring or coaching junior engineers
• Stakeholder engagement and translating business requirements into technical solutions
• Experience in complex delivery environments, ideally in consultancy or professional services
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; focus on reliable, maintainable solutions
