CONTRACT TYPE: 3-month attachment / FTC (fixed term contract)
DEPARTMENT: Creative Diversity Team
LOCATION: London or Salford or Glasgow – Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Include salary range including currency icon e.g. £47,000 - £57,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As part of the BBC's Creative Diversity team, this role will play a key part in transforming complex production, commissioning and diversity data into meaningful business intelligence. Working across multiple data sources, you'll help build a robust data and reporting infrastructure, bringing datasets together, developing impactful Power BI dashboards and generating insights that enable better-informed decision-making and track progress against the BBC's creative diversity ambitions.

This is a hands‑on role suited to an experienced Data Analyst who can quickly understand complex data, establish effective reporting solutions and translate information into clear, accessible insight for a range of stakeholders. You'll be comfortable working at pace and taking ownership of defined deliverables within a short‑term assignment.

YOUR RESPONSBILITIES AND IMPACT

In your role you will:

  • Design, develop and maintain a suite of Power BI dashboards and reporting tools enabling stakeholders to monitor performance against Creative Diversity priorities.
  • Bring together and interrogate complex datasets from multiple sources, including production, commissioning and diversity data, establishing consistent structures and improving data quality.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear business insight and compelling, user‑friendly visualisations for technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Creative Diversity Operations Lead and relevant data stakeholders to ensure information is accurate, accessible and fit for analysis and reporting.
  • Support colleagues to understand and use reporting tools and dashboards, contributing to guidance and knowledge transfer to build sustainable capability within the team.
  • Manage delivery against the agreed three‑month scope, identifying and escalating risks, dependencies and data‑quality issues.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education to degree level or above in STEM subject or equivalent experience
  • Strong Power BI expertise, with demonstrable experience designing and developing dashboards and intuitive, user‑friendly data visualisations.
  • Proficient in developing and maintaining Python and SQL scripts to automate processes, analyse data, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Strong Excel and data manipulation skills, including experience cleaning, consolidating and structuring datasets using formulas, data transformation techniques and structured reporting approaches.
  • Experience working with diversity, representation, audience or workforce data, including knowledge of frameworks such as Diamond or equivalent monitoring/reporting systems.
  • Experience working with TV commissioning, production or media data, including familiarity with relevant systems, workflows and data structures
  • Strong stakeholder and communication skills, with the ability to understand business requirements and translate complex data into clear, accessible insights and reporting products for technical and non‑technical audiences.
