In this role you will be embedded with the newsroom to transform engagement and coverage data into editorial decisions. You’ll own content analytics end-to-end, from data instrumentation to delivering insights that guide what editors publish. You’ll develop signals to measure true article value, assess audience reach, and support data-driven coverage prioritisation. You’ll work closely with editors, analysts, and engineers to build scalable analyses and a trustworthy semantic layer that powers fast, self-serve answers.

- Own content analytics end-to-end from instrumentation to insight that informs editorial strategy
- Define and instrument engagement signals beyond readership (time on page, scroll depth, CTR)
- Develop tag-effectiveness analysis and LLM-based content classification for editors
- Measure core and public audiences for subscriber value and broader reach across content, social, and video
- Support data-driven coverage prioritisation by surfacing high-attention companies and market-moving stories
- Track competitive coverage, gaps, timeliness, and attribution of market-moving stories to 9fin
- Diagnose drivers of content metrics and build reproducible analysis frameworks
- Own content datasets and the semantic layer (dbt models on BigQuery) to enable fast, trustworthy self-serve answers
- Act as embedded analytics partner to newsroom, translating questions into actionable analysis for editorial strategy and product
- Collaborate with editors to shape coverage and contribute to a competitive distressed-product offering
- Senior, hands-on contributor with deep technical depth
- Proven analytics experience in media, B2B SaaS, or fintech
- Expert SQL for complex analysis, optimisation, and reusable datasets
- dbt and a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake or similar) with production models, tests, and docs
- Modern BI with a semantic layer (Omni, Looker, Thoughtspot) and self-serve dashboards
- Engagement and event analytics; ability to distinguish signal from noise
- Fluency with AI tools for building LLM-based content classification pipelines
- Strong communication skills to turn analysis into clear narratives for editors and leadership
- Curious, fast learner with ability to grasp distressed-market concepts; data storytelling experience beneficial
- Finance or distressed-debt knowledge is a plus (not essential)
